Your key to survival might just depend on the type of weapons you have available. Start collecting some guns, long-range weapons like a spear or javelin and lots of ammunition. You could also search the internet for self-made weapons and learn a thing or two about them. Explosives will work very well when attacked in large numbers. Learning how to make them, or where to purchase them is essential to your survival. You can never have enough. Always keep a stockpile safe, secured, and if possible guarded by a manual security (electricity might not be available).
Food and water are essential to living humans, stockpile them like you would gold. When it comes time to barter and trade extra food and water will be worth more than gold. Remember to stockpile enough for yourself, family, and very close friends. Don't bother bartering these items unless you absolutely have to.
We all have them but we don't always like them. Unless you can absolutely trust your family members don't bother with them. Human instincts tend to prevail over love when it comes time to survive and prosper. A family member might just leave you to be feasted upon. Always group up with the ones you know you can trust and love. A fight does not mean you can not trust them. When it comes down to it, will they have your back?
